Start the game, then go to Game in the main interface and choose Deathmatch or Zone Control. If you have friends on your friend's list, switch to Play with Friends and invite them for a round in Sadowgun.
This is the only way to play with other people, but most of them prefer the Deathmatch since many people play it.
